Giving More Than Blood
Every blood donation has the power to save lives. Through the Lifeblood Gifts program Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is giving donors another way to make a difference. After every three blood, plasma or platelet donations, donors can choose a carbon offset gift instead of merchandise, helping address the carbon footprint of collecting and processing those donations. To deliver it, Lifeblood partnered with TEM’s BlueHalo® (Travel Management Platform), to build a carbon portfolio that reflects a shared commitment to people and communities. It features two projects chosen to do far more than balance carbon.
Indigenous-Led Climate Action in Australia
The Jawoyn Fire Abatement Project in the Northern Territory is Indigenous-led, blending traditional cultural knowledge with modern fire management to reduce destructive late-season wildfires. Beyond lowering emissions, it supports Indigenous employment, strengthens cultural connection to Country and protects important ecosystems across northern Australia.
Better Health Outcomes for Families in Ethiopia
The World Vision Ethiopian Cookstove Project distributes efficient cookstoves to households that rely on open fires to cook with. It cuts fuel use and emissions while delivering real health benefits, reducing indoor smoke exposure to improve air quality for women and children. Less time spent gathering firewood also opens up greater opportunities for education, income and community wellbeing.
A Natural Alignment of Values
We believe the smallest decisions can create the greatest impact. For Lifeblood donors, choosing the carbon offset is a simple way to amplify an already generous act, supporting communities here and abroad.
