Michaela Morris
Chief Executive Officer

Michaela was appointed Chief Executive Officer of TEM in February 2025, bringing over a decade of international experience in climate change science, research and policy. Michaela excels in translating the complexities of the transition to net zero into corporate action. 

Prior to joining TEM, Michaela headed Program Delivery at Climateworks Centre, a climate policy research organisation within Monash University, leading the body of work on decarbonising systems such as energy, industry buildings and transport, land and ocean, and finance. 

Michaela’s experience further extends to her work with Anthesis (formerly Ndevr), where she partnered with clients across emissions-intensive sectors, including agriculture, energy, real estate, and financial services, focusing on ESG strategy, GHG emissions performance and accounting, scope 3, and net-zero transitions. 

Michaela also played a pivotal role in the low-carbon think tank Dubai Carbon, co-founded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where she helped unlock green growth opportunities for the region including carbon project registration in the Gulf under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDP), the Paris Agreement Crediting mechanism’s (PACM) predecessor. Leading capacity-building and engagement programs with organisations such as UNEP, C40, UNSDSN, CTCN, the World Energy Council, and the World Economic Forum. Michaela was part of the UAE delegation to several UNFCCC Conferences of Parties (COP), advising on carbon markets in the lead up to the Paris Agreement in 2015. 

Michaela’s background in political issue management has shaped her career advising both public and private sector organisations on their journeys toward net-zero emissions and climate resilience. She has worked extensively across the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Australia, contributing expertise in waste and resources management, climate change capacity building, policy advisory, and corporate strategy. 

Michaela holds a Master of Environmental Science from Melbourne University, a Master of Arts in Political Communication, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Law, both from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Michaela also holds positions on the Board of Environment Victoria and as a member of the Technical Advisory Group for the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
